Cullen is one of the many villages along the coast of the North East of Scotland that make up the "Coastal Trail". 

There are fish markets, fish shops, fish restaurants and fish and chips.  Dolphins are offshore, seabirds pack the cliffs, rare plants bloom on shingle and craggy ledges.  In some places woodland grows almost to the high tide

mark and the beaches reach the horizon while in others the sheer vertical scale of the cliffs will stop you in your tracks.

The Coastal Trail offers all sorts of variety to the explorer.  Walks along clear and deserted beaches, trips in fishing boats, diving for the enthusiast, visits to fish markets, cliff top castles and marine aquarium are all  intended to keep you busy and interested.  You can discover this unique coastline by following the signposted footpaths. Why not hire a bicycle to explore the miles of sandy beach and spectacular cliff top?

Scenic coastal paths link attractive villages from St Cyrus up through Johnshaven and Gourdon to Inverbervie and Catterline.  From Stonehaven a superb coast walk leads to the magnificent Dunnottar Castle.  A little further north are Cruden Bay and Slains Castle. 

From here the trail leads on to the Bullers of Buchan, superb cliffs south of Peterhead, packed for much of the year with a huge variety of seabirds.  Up on the Moray Firth, Cullen and Portsoy have long been popular with visitors.  Glorious stretches of sands take you along Coastal Footpaths linking the many small and picturesque towns and villages.
